Associated Students UCSB

Student Representative from October 2015 - June 2017

  • Facilitate meetings as chair of the Internal Affairs Committee, ensuring a productive and civil meeting. Planned and led meetings, handling the administration by reading and approving minutes creating documentation, paying attention to detail, and submitting work in a timely manner.

  • Represent students as an off-campus Senator, making sure to have constant communication with students and their respective organizations and committees. Staying informed of ASUCSB Legal Code and revising policy where I might see a need.

  • Prioritize the wellbeing of students by searching for a way to increase community engagement. Preference towards engaging with students and doing what I can within policy to help students.

My involvement at Associate Students UC Santa Barbara, was one of the most formative periods of my life. While I arrived at my position as a Student Representative with a drive to create material improvements for students, I left with a deeper understanding of the systems built to provide those in need with the resources necessary for them to live

As an Associated Student Senator, I worked closely with student organizations, administration, and local representatives. I was essentially a board member of a multimillion dollar nonprofit 501(c)(3). With regular meetings, countless pages of notes and minutes, and many faces, being a senator was a humbling experience.

Having worked alongside brilliant students and community members, all striving to make the world a better place, I look back on my time at ASUCSB with hope for our future.
